A mature and older individual, trained by Amathuba to walk alongside our Mentees, building an authentic relationship and committed for the “12 - 22” journey.
These are our students, ranging in age from 12 - 22 years old. We like to refer to them as Amathuba’s Experts, as they are the best at explaining what life is really like to walk in their shoes.
Our Mentees are fortunate to attend a variety of wonderful primary and high schools, where we build strong, collaborative relationships with our Partner Schools. We work hand in hand with their exceptional pastoral teams, supporting their efforts to nurture and guide students. When there’s a need for additional funding to cover fees or other essentials, we step in to assist with fundraising initiatives.
We also serve as a vital link between the schools and our Amathuba Families, fostering communication and support. We are incredibly grateful to our Partner Schools, many of which generously offer significant financial assistance and scholarships, ensuring that our mentees have the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing educational environment.
Amathuba relies heavily on a designated Champion Teacher at each Partner School for day-to-day communication.
These are the amazing people who make everything we do at Amathuba possible. Our donors come from all walks of life—some give once, some donate every month, and others help out through their B-BBEE contributions, goods, services, or their time.
For our monthly donors, we make sure to send out monthly updates and receipts so they can see the impact of their support. Our philosophy has always been simple: give what you can and only if you want to.
